Members from across the Diocese gathered at St Ninian’s Episcopal Church, Dundee, on Saturday 24 October, for the Autumn Diocesan Synod, a day of fellowship, reflection and forward planning focused on the theme of money and mission.

The Synod began with the regular business of the Diocese, including the presentation of accounts, budget and quota arrangements. These important matters were expertly led by Bob Main, Diocesan Treasurer, whose clear guidance helps ensure the Diocese remains well-equipped to support its ministry and mission across Brechin.

A sincere thank you was offered to all charges throughout the Diocese for their continued generosity and faithful support. Their contributions enable the work of the Church to continue and develop in communities across the region.

The day also featured thought-provoking presentations from Bishop Nicholas Bundock and Canon Dawn Matthew of the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, who introduced the concept of Natural Church Development. Their engaging and insightful sessions explored ways in which churches can assess and strengthen their health, vitality and mission. The Diocese will now consider how this approach might assist congregations in growing as healthy and sustainable communities of faith.

As discussions concluded and delegates made their journeys home, there was a shared sense of encouragement and purpose for the months ahead. Thankfully, everyone departed safely before the arrival of Storm Boelo, bringing a fitting end to a productive and positive day.

Many thanks to Mary Swift for capturing the event through her excellent photographs.
